Ryke and Daisy's love story is a fairy tale. Literally. We first see them together in Mexico for her sixteenth birthday; he was simply a chaperone that struggled to keep this wild child...well, alive basically. It was obvious from the get-go that he needed the Daisy Calloway sparkle in his life, and that's what we have here in this book.As I read this series, I had concluded that Ryke is my favorite character. Now there is no doubt - of all the originals, he's IT. And so I just gobbled up the romance portion of the book. But there were also very serious, real problems for this couple to work through. The close-knit family they have created is really something special. I did (accurately) predict some of the events in this book which I won't reveal in this review. But they were told so realistically that I was sobbing.
I will immediately move on to "Some Kind of Perfect" and then I will get back to the Like Us series, which I have already read but am currently listening to.

Long Way Down Calloway Sisters Book 4 edition by Krista Ritchie Becca Ritchie Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS - So I read this book because who doesn't love hot broody Ryke & sweet little Daisy? I never meant to fall in love with them...but I guess I never expected to fall so deeply for Lily/Loren & Connor/Rose either. This family grows even tighter after their "fans" get angry when the group won't continue their reality series. Reading Ryke's POV is eye opening, I had no idea the depth of his feelings for his brother, I didn't realize how head-over-heels he was for Daisy, everything she does is "effing cute". ) Even more surprising is how a woman like me could relate to a young woman like Daisy - beautiful, famous, wild spirited. She still struggles with her emotions & faces a new enemy in this book - her own body. She has cysts & sex sometimes isn't pleasant, the thought of having a family with Ryke seems impossible, & she is often in pain. Can you imagine Ryke without his shirt on, so dark & mysterious & deep & highly aroused, and you can't have sex with him 24/7? Yep it would suck. There are two parts of this book that are super hot, thanks to Ryke being completely in tune with Daisy when they are in the bedroom, or out of the bedroom. He knows she is a visual person so he videos a little bit of them together, so hot! And when Ryke often takes matters "into his own hands" Daisy has an idea to share the experience with him & oh Lord, the writing is fantastic because it was like I was in the room with them! Even though Ryke is on the cover of the book & he has his own demons to battle, it is their immense connection to each other that lights up this book. "I go two days without seeing you, Daisy, and it effing kills me. I never thought I'd love someone this way." And through all of their struggles as young lovers they proceed with the gusto that we've come to love from these two - "one-hundred-and-fifty miles per hour. No brakes!" Even Daisy's mother comes around & sees the tight connection they have, that Ryke & Daisy are both like lightning, you can't bottle it, and together they make a beautiful, perfect storm. I love how Daisy comes into her own in this book, finds her voice, finds her passion, allows herself to have the dream family she has so desperately wanted. This family of sisters & their husbands fight and love like nothing else & I will hate for it all to be over!
4.5 stars...
This is the ninth... the freaking NINTH full length novel I have read in this series and it's almost 600 pages. It should be boring, I should struggle to get through it. I mean I've struggled with the second book in a series that was only 250 pages. But did I struggle here? Hell no. Not even a little. In fact at the 50% mark all I kept thinking is... "No way. No way did I already read 300 pages. No way is there only half left." These books remind me why I love reading so much. Because despite their very adult and complicated themes, ultimately it's about a boy and girl and their unwavering love for one another.
They start out alone and with all these problems, but instead of the magic that seems to happen in other novels where you meet "the one" and suddenly your problems vanish, they work through them. They stumble and they fall. But they pick themselves back up, they keep picking themselves back up. It has been a beautiful journey, getting to watch all these characters grow and fall in love. Not only with each other but with themselves. Watching them discover the value in who they are as people and in what they have to offer the world, regardless of their flaws.
If you enjoy well written, complex and relatable characters, with a soulmate kind of love, and great sex, then you will not be disappointed.
With every book added to the Addicted/Calloway series, I find a new favorite. Long Way Down has definitely filled that spot. It was a very beautiful "conclusion" to Ryke and Daisy's love story. (I say "conclusion" because it was supposed to be The End, but the authors gave us a really cool epilogue novel.)
I've loved Ryke's character since the beginning of the series. His honest, blunt approach to life appealed to me. I also loved his swearing. (Hey, there was just something kind of sexy about it!) He felt more real to me than the other characters. Daisy hasn't always been my favorite, but Long Way Down really endeared her to me. I felt like I actually got to know her in this book. Her raw connection with Ryke made more sense to me and I loved the playfulness they continued to share.
The story wasn't all fun and games, though. There were some very intense moments that had me worried. The suspense was brutal at times. But those moments lead to really moving moments between the characters, so it was well worth it. Long Way Down was another amazing addition to this series.
I know I've said it with every review for this series, but I think New Adult lovers need to read this series. It's simply amazing. I've grown so attached to the characters and I'm not looking forward to the series ending. So, go read it!
